Although many street artists remain anonymous, in Belgium we come into contact almost daily with their creations, which brighten up our urban landscape. Street art has become an integral part of society. Many Belgian cities are now putting street art in the spotlight, organizing guided tours, festivals, and developing apps that allow residents and tourists to discover the works of art present in public spaces.
A special art form deserves a special touch!
The street art phenomenon in Belgium has prompted the Royal Mint of Belgium to issue a 2.5-euro coin in collaboration with one of Belgium’s most famous street artists, Bue the Warrior. Both the coin design and the accompanying packaging and NFT were created by him! The 2.5-euro coin is minted in BU quality and comes as a coincard in two language versions. Due to the great diversity of street art in Belgium, additional works by renowned Belgian artists have been added to the coincard as a free NFT*! Discover the exclusive work of one of the five Belgian street artists that accompanies your coin as an exclusive digital extra!
The obverse of the coin features a cheerful bird and the inscription “Streetart,” both created with spray paint, an element visible on the coin along with the country designation “BE.” The bird appears frequently in Bue the Warrior’s works and can therefore be considered his signature. His name, as the designer of the coin’s design, is also inscribed in the bottom right corner.
