Stanley Gibbons was founded in 1856 by Edward Stanley Gibbons , then an apprentice in his father’s pharmacy . The aim was to sell a large batch of Cape Colony triangular stamps .
Since November 1865 , the company has been publishing stamp catalogues , which are a reference among collectors. Stanley Gibbons catalogues indicate the values, but also give a great deal of information on the stamps and their particularities. Stanley Gibbons publishes the monthly Gibbons Stamp Monthly, which is one of the main philatelic magazines.

The Penny Black is one of the most significant inventions in history! Launched in 1840 with Queen Victoria’s profile, it revolutionized mass communication, enabling people across the UK to correspond.
